Melbourne Uni’s outrageous and edgy Law Revue is back for its 40th year, with the brand new production Sketchual Healing set to wow audiences.
Sketchual Healing will take over Melbourne University’s Guild Theatre for six shows from 31 August to 9 September.
As the “kindergarten of Aussie comedy”, the Melbourne Uni Law Revue lays claim to some of the biggest names in Australian entertainment, including comedic geniuses Sammy J, Celia Pacquola, Magda Szubanski, Steve Vizard and the team from Working Dog (The Castle, Thank God You’re Here, Have You Been Paying Attention?).
Written, directed and performed by 10 students, audiences are invited to join the cast for a night of hilarious performances, sparkling wit and topical comedy. Covering everything from politics to pop-culture the 2017 show will leave nothing off the table.
Three of last year’s favourite performers have returned for 2017 in new roles; Directors Ella Lawry and Georgie Daniels and Producer Bree O’Dwyer.
“More than four decades of comedic history have led to this show and the 2017 cast have done justice to the Law Revue’s historic reputation,” Ms O’Dwyer said.
“I’m excited that we are continually pushing our limits, this year our comedy will translated by Auslan interpreters on 3 September Father’s Day matinee performance, an interesting challenge for our cast, the interpreters and for comedy!”
The 2017 Law Revue is sponsored by the Vizard Foundation and the Melbourne University Law Student’s Society, with a percentage of the proceeds donated to the Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation which aims to tackle mental health issues within the legal industry.
