About The Show

The Melbourne University Law Revue is an annual sketch comedy show written, directed and performed by students that has entertained audiences for over 60 years. Run by the University of Melbourne’s Law Student’s Society, the Law Revue seeks to promote student comedy and theatre and raise money for a good cause. But don’t be fooled- just because it’s a Law Revue doesn’t limit the comedy to law in-jokes!

This year the Law Revue will be produced by James Cameron and directed by Madi Savage and Isabelle Knight.

The Law Revue – A Concise History

Over the years, university Revues have produced some of the world’s finest comedians. The Melbourne Uni Law Revue is no exception, with past alumni including the team from Working Dog (The Castle, Thank God You’re Here), Magda Szubanski, Sammy J, Celia Pacquola and Steve Vizard to name just a few. Internationally, Revues such as the Cambridge Footlights have given rise to comedic legends such as Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Rowan Atkinson, Monty Python and of course Prince Charles (not joking!).

Procceds raised by the Law Revue are donated to a charity. In 2015, $4956 was raised for the Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation which raises awareness of depression and mental illness in the legal workplace. Previous Law Revues have raised money for Frontyard Youth Services and Second Bite.
